New Anti-SPAM Measures

We have recently made some changes to the email systems to improve the detection of unsolicited email known as SPAM.

Techniques for sending SPAM are constantly changing and in our quest to prevent SPAM from being delivered to you we have to constantly tune our mail servers.

We are unlikely to be able to completely eliminate SPAM as some of the tests need to be set at a threshold where they do not falsely detect legitimate email as SPAM. That means we would rather deliver you a SPAM message than not deliver you a real message because the system thought it was SPAM.

We will continue to monitor our systems and ensure the latest SPAM and Virus prevention controls are put in place - helping to make your email service world class.

More information can be obtained about Jaztek's email services from here.

Thanks for supporting Jaztek.

Further Information:
All incoming mail messages are scanned using a series of checks for SPAM and Viruses.

You can validate this as we add a special tag to the message header which you can see if you view them. This is different from one email client to another but try the "view" menu option in your email client and look for message headers (or search on google for "show message headers [insert your email client]")

You will see something similar to:

This message has a score of 4.075 which is a result of the tests detailed. A score of 5 triggers the mail server to add a message to the subject line of the email taging it as possible SPAM. This allows you to quickly detect SPAM and possibly automatically move it to a SPAM folder or even delete it.

If an email has a score above 10 then it is rejected and the sender is advised.

If you need any help with decoding the message headers, please do not hesitate to contact the service desk.
